Winter sessions in Virginia are always hit or miss. Some days are a cold 32 degrees and others are a cozy 70 degrees. You just never know. This is my brother, the oldest of my three brothers, but still younger than me and his family. My sister-in-law and niece braved a cold winter day to get updated family photos and I am so glad they did. You can’t tell from their smiles how cold it was, they were such troopers.
This year has brought so many changes, including strengthening my relationship with my sister-in-law and niece. We were open and honest about our feelings from the past and what we both wanted for the future. Although it was one of the hardest conversations I have had it helped get us to this point. We have had many “dates” since that tough conversation. We have went to dinner, the movies, and worked together to make Thanksgiving breakfast and decorate my parents house for Christmas.
I get emotional thinking about the years passed that we could have been closer but know that we needed that time to grow. We now realize what is important and have opened the lines of communication for this amazing new relationship. I look forward to many more family sessions for these three and lots of adventures with them. We are already planning some as we speak!
