The Shenandoah Lodge at Lake Frederick is one of my favorite venues in the area. It is gorgeous inside and out with amazing views and GREAT food! When Marissa and David inquired I was excited as I always am. But then found out that Marissa is sisters with the planner at the Lodge so I knew the wedding was going to be epic. In other words, I have been looking forward to their wedding for a year now and their engagement session and wedding didn’t disappoint. I shared their proposal story here.
From the moment I arrived to the very end was amazing. This never happens but I arrived to having the ceremony AND reception space completely decorated and ready! Talk about detail heaven and a photographers dream. I was able to photograph both spaces before guests arrived to capture all the hard work that went into planning and execution. These detail photos are so important to the couple because they don’t usually get to see the spaces until after guests have been welcomed. Similarly, the vendors appreciate these photos to showcase their hard work!
I always start my day by saying hello to the couple. Marissa welcomed me with a big smile and a warm huge. Similarly, David surprised me by having a copy of my photography timeline next to him. These two are truly amazing! Above all their day couldn’t have went better. From the girls pampering Marissa and putting the final touches on for her big day. And David’s family helping him get ready. To the first look Marissa shared with her dad, one of y favorites to date! To the prayer they shared over Marissa before she walked down the aisle. The ceremony overlooking the water with fall foliage for portraits.
But the reception took the cake. The head tables for their wedding party included seats for their significant others which was so thoughtful. The couple set up a coffee bar because their family is HUGE coffee drinkers. It was a complete display with mugs, sugars, and coffee flavors. Marissa and David’s wedding cake was gorgeous and both flavors were delicious! Yes, I can personally attest to both flavors. When it came time for speeches, the two maids of honor spoke and then broke out into a choreographed dance, welcomed the wedding party up and lit light sticks to open the dance floor.
Above all, myself and the guests all asked if the wedding was over when it was time for sparklers because they were having such a great time. To conclude, we sent the couple off with a sparkler exit and wished these two well as they prepare for their honeymoon!
