The morning of a wedding day is such a sweet time for the bride, her mom, and her bridesmaids. The months of planning are complete. The day has finally come when the bride marries her best friend. She can relax and soak in all the emotions and moments in the bridal suite with her dearest friends. The morning generally starts with breakfast, some pampering, hair and makeup, and lots of laughs. After the hair and makeup is finished, the mother-of-the-bride will help her daughter into her wedding dress. She and the bridesmaids will help put on the brides necklace, bracelets, garter and shoes. As a bridesmaid it is their responsibility to ensure the bride looks radiant.
The bridal suite is where all of these moments takes place. The look and feel of the bridal suite is important for not only the mood but the aesthetics of the photos for these moments. As you search for venues and utilize the tips I shared here and here, please also keep the following in mind when looking at bridal suites.
- The size of the bridal suite | Ensure the size is suitable for your bridesmaids, mother-of-the-bride, mother-of-the-groom, hair and makeup [if you’re having it done on site], and 1-2 photographers.
- The color of the bridal suite | Ideally you want a neutral colored bridal suite. It serves as a natural reflector to enhance your photos. It’s also ideal if the colors don’t contrast with your wedding colors. A white, beige, gray or light color is preferred.
- The natural light [windows] | Windows are a must! This isn’t just so you can keep an eye on what is happening with the set-up but for your photos! Windows allow for natural light from the outdoors to come in and help create beautiful bridal portraits such as the ones below.
Bonus tip, make a mental note of the temperature of the room. It may be reasonable when your there for a tour, but once you add 8-10 friends it will get warm. You want to stay as comfortable as possible, and may want to even bring a fan for circulation.
