Sky Meadows State Park held the perfect majestic mountain views for Alyssa and Dyllan’s engagement photos. Engagement photos?! Now don’t get me wrong Alyssa and Dyllan are perfect and adorable together. But it’s still hard for me to grasp that Alyssa is engaged. It seems like yesterday we were tracking the weather for snow to do Alyssa’s high school senior photos. But now she is has found the most kind, patient and adventurous guy in Dyllan. I knew they had been together for a while and I heard all about the proposal, which I’ll share too, but I had no idea the story behind when they first met, so let’s start there.
It was July 12th, Chick-fil-A’s annual Cow Appreciation Day and Alyssa with some girlfriends had dressed up to receive free chicken nuggets. Alyssa wasn’t aware but after eating dinner, they headed to Dyllan’s house for a bonfire. She showed up to Dyllan’s house dressed as a cow! But to Alyssa’s surprise, Dyllan was drinking out of a cow’s horn, so they shared in the irony of the situation. The cow outfit and horn is where their story began and flourished. They chatted all night about LFCC, life and Star Wars. Dyllan commented that he had never met anyone that could hold a conversation about Star Wars before Alyssa, so he knew she was the one! It was only fitting that their first official date was Chick-fil-A and a movie, Star Trek Beyond.
After dating for a while, Dyllan showed Alyssa a note that was in his car. Dyllan had made the note before they even started dating. It was a list of characteristics in his future spouse. Alyssa told me that she matched the list perfectly! They had the same life goals, agreed on kids, similar religious beliefs, and views on life. Alyssa knew from that day that they were on the same page and Dyllan was the one. They would have a great foundation to grow their love for one another.
Alyssa and I share a guilty pleasure of watching The Bachelor/Bachelorette. We know it is reality TV but we get soak up in it season after season. I share this with you because one of Alyssa’s favorite gifts she’s received is a 24k gold dipped rose. The roses are preserved and dipped in gold. Dyllan gifted Alyssa this rose because it will last the length of his love for her (forever!). He even gave it to her and ask if she would accept his rose, like on The Bachelor!
Dyllan carried The Bachelor tradition by proposing to Alyssa with a Neil Lane engagement ring in Iceland! Alyssa and Dyllan went to Iceland last Thanksgiving Break 2017. They planned to see the Northern Lights and thought they just appeared, but they don’t and they struggled to find them. Dyllan watched the Northern Lights forecast. On November 20th, they drove to the bridge between the continents where the American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. When they finally saw the stunning Northern Lights, Dyllan got down on one knee. He asked Alyssa to spend the rest of her life with him. She said she could barely let him finish before she said YES!
