Rockland Park is my new found love for sunrise sessions especially when there is a dense fog advisory because magic like this happens! It is no secret that I am not a morning person especially after getting in late the night before from a wedding in Richmond. However, when your sweet bride has a busy school schedule with labs and is only in town for a few days during Labor Day weekend; you wake up super early (6 a.m.) and meet them to do their engagement session.
Not many couples can say they are high school sweethearts, but Kelsey and Jerrius can! They met for the first time in English class during their Junior year of High School. It was Kelsey’s first day at Skyline High School. She saw Jerrius in the halls throughout the day. But when she walked into English class and saw him she knew she wanted to get to know him. They went on their first day to the Front Royal Movie Theater to watch Hunger Games. They both said they were nervous but wanted to get to know one another. Although they met at the beginning of the school year they weren’t officially dating until December 11, 2014.
I have known Kelsey and her family for a few years now. I have photographed both her and her brother’s senior photos, homecomings, proms, and even family portraits. The connection with the Holben family was instant because they are all so warm and inviting. Kelsey and I clicked instantly when she said that she would wear sweatpants and a t-shirt all day every day because that’s my dream! But a girl that can also get dressed up and look AMAZING with her fiance is even better!
I love that Kelsey and Jerrius enjoy the simple things in life like attending West Virginia University footballs games or hiking. But more importantly that they both hold their families near and dear to their heart. Kelsey even shared with me that the greatest gift she has ever received besides her stunning engagement ring is the opportunity to attend her dream college courtesy of her parents. They are so humble and appreciative of everything that I know these two will have a long and happy marriage. They will exchange vows next year at Bowling Green Country Club and June just seems like too far away!
