Oatlands Historic House and Gardens set in the snow is magical! We received special access during their off season hours and had snow from a storm 3 weeks prior, call us lucky. Thank you Oatlands! The temperatures were a little less desirable but you can’t tell from the joy between Caroline and Kevin. These two met on Instagram when Caroline left a comment on a reel that Kevin just happened to see so he followed and messaged her, Caroline says “the rest is history!” However, Kevin stated he was “surprised she actually messaged me back.”
Two weeks after they started talking on Instagram, they planned their first date at a coffee shop, “French Twist.” Caroline frequented the coffee shop for grad school homework. Kevin said he was going to be in town about 30 minutes away visiting his parents. Later Caroline determined that to be a white lie and he drove much further. They had the same order, partly because Kevin never knows what he likes at coffee shops and it feels like a different language. They chatted, played checkers, and walked around downtown to visit some cute stores.
Both Caroline and Kevin knew on or after their second date that the other was THE ONE! Caroline admitted never believing in “when you know you know” but she thinks they both did. Kevin even called his best friend on the drive home to tell him all about the date and Caroline! So the proposal was no surprise.
Caroline recalls Kevin asking her if she wanted to go to a winery she had been wanting to visit. Kevin had a picnic set up towards the back of the property for more privacy with rolling hills. By the time they could see the blanket all set up in the distance, Caroline was already crying. Caroline doesn’t remember much of what Kevin actually said when he got down on a knee but her answer was yes, so thats all that mattered! They did some photos after, and then got to just relax the two of them to answer all of Caroline’s questions on how the proposal was planned and unfolded. They then went to downtown Frederick where they had dinner with their families! Kevin thought of EVERYTHING!
