The Big 5-0

Today I interrupt our scheduled blog post to write about about a very special person, the most special person in my life, my mom! Without her, I obviously wouldn’t be here today! She gave me the gift of life and unconditional love from the beginning. She has always been my biggest fan and supporter in any and everything that I wanted to do. For as long as I can remember she has been my best friend, confidant, and the best listener. She is always pushing me to do better and always gives herself selflessly. She is giving, understanding, truthful (sometimes too much), honest, and loving (only to name a few but there are many more great qualities).

And today is that special persons birthday! And not just any ole birthday, the big 5-0. Today my mom turns 50, half a century, but who is counting, right?! She has accomplished a lot in her life. She was born in Germany, lived there until her early 20’s when she met my dad who was in the Army, fell in love and got married. After being married for less than 3 months, they found out they were expecting a baby….me! Two years and a day later, my brother Jeff came along. We took our then family of four and moved to the US, where we eventually added two more siblings, both brothers, Johnathan and Joshua. In that time my mom overcame language barriers with speaking and writing (cause everyone knows we don’t have the easiest language to understand) and became a US citizen! She has raised 4 beautiful and successful children, been a faithful wife to my dad, and a supporter in all that we do. She is the most proud mother of her children and loves us all unconditionally and equally. She is a great mother-in-law to her son and daughter-in-law and treats and cares for them as they are her own. I also know she is going to be a great grandmother as well to my neice Rylee who my mom can’t wait for her to make her arrival.

Today is going to be a day all about my mom and how great she is. My brothers, dad and I are so lucky to have her in our lives and to be able to call her our mom/wife. Mom, I hope you have a great day and enjoy your “senior” years. Love you!

[…] 5-0 birthday celebration. Apparently 1964 was a good year to have children because both my mom (see blog post) and mother-in-law turned 50! I am so very lucky to have not one but two wonderful women in my life, […]ReplyCancel
