Bathroom Remodel | Curry Fixer Upper

If you have been following along on my Instagram (@franzileephotography) than you know we recently did a bathroom remodel, more like an overhaul in my opinion. TJ and I have lived in our little cap cod for 4+ years now and since we first looked at our home we knew that we wanted, cross that out, NEEDED to update our bathroom and remodel it.

We had little white 3×3 subway tile all around the shower from the top of the tube to the ceiling. Our tub was cast iron which is really heavy and not what they use now a days. It was a  rock solid tub but the last owners attempted to refurbish it by repainting it and it just didn’t work. The paint was completely gone on the bottom of the tub and it just needed to go.

So I guess about 3 months ago I enlisted the help of the best contractor I know, my dad. We  blocked off and planned a whole weekend, Friday-Sunday to get the majority of the remodel done. TJ and I made a trip to Home Depot in Winchester to pick out our materials and Thursday night prior to our remodel weekend we purchased all of our materials and loaded my dad’s truck with tile, hardy backer, tub, faucet, and all the little stuff.

On Friday, demo began! Everything was removed from the bathroom, toilet, sink, and the TUB! Keep in mind that cast iron tubs are HEAVY, they are cast iron after all! Saturday we started to put things back, starting with the new tub, water supply shut offs for the shower and then we began the tile process. Sunday we grouted and finished the shower. After the shower was done, the floors were done, tiled and grouted. Then TJ painted the bathroom to touchup and put a fresh coat on the walls. After everything was updated and painted, the sink and toilet were installed and then I cleaned up!

This bathroom remodel took a bit more time than I expected and would have liked. But my dad did it in between jobs and busy schedules slowed us down. But I am so glad that I was able to do this renovation with my dad. I love our bathroom that much more that it was a job we did together and it looks AMAZING.

I feel like I am at a spa every time I am in there. It doesn’t feel like my house! I appreciate and know how much work this bathroom remodel was and I love my dad for spending the whole weekend and lots of evenings working on my tub and for dealing with my eagerness to get it completed. I am so lucky to have a dad that is so handy and helpful. TJ and I are so happy to be able to check this project off of our to-do list.

*I don’t claim to be a bathroom photographer. Taking these photos was a lot harder than I thought it would be.
