50 West Vineyards in Middleburg showed off with it’s southern Virginia charm for Lauren and Andy’s engagement session. These two met in their sophomore year at Gettysburg College. Specifically, a British History class that will always hold a special place in Lauren and Andy’s heart. The professor of the course is going to be their wedding officiant which is such a full circle moment! They didn’t have an official first date but rather through little moments over the semester came to realize that together was their favorite place to be. Their first date unbeknownst to them was watching the sunset from an observation tower on the Gettysburg battlefield.
Early on in their relationship Lauren recalls knowing Andy was the one! It was the summer after they started dating when they visited Andy’s parents in Virginia that she knew. They were sitting in the living room looking at old photo albums. She recalls one especially cute picture of a kindergarten Andy dressed up as George Washington and she felt so incredibly comfortable in such a loving house. She loved watching him interact with his parents reminiscing about his childhood. There was laughter and jokes despite this being the first time she was meeting his parents. She felt at home on that couch holding his hand and knew she wanted to spend the rest of her life feeling that type of love!
Fast forward, Lauren and Andy were visiting Lauren’s parents in Connecticut for Thanksgiving last year and she thought Andy was being sneaky! Lauren’s first clue was when she caught her mom hugging Andy Thanksgiving morning as she was putting the finishing touches on an apple pie. Later that morning they were in the basement looking at her parents indoor garden and Andy stayed back to chat with them while Lauren ran upstairs, so Lauren was on to him.
They drove to the beach in her hometown and went for a walk by the water. They walked by one of the more picturesque spots. But when Andy didn’t stop, Lauren started to second guess her suspicions. After walking further down the beach, Andy got down on one knee and proposed. Lauren admits to blacking out but she remembers saying how much she loved the ring. Andy said, “Thanks, Grandpa picked it out!” The engagement ring was the exact one that Andy’s grandfather picked out for Andy’s grandmother in the 40s!
Middleburg didn’t disappoint with the views for their engagement session but I can’t wait for their wedding this Fall!
