Monica and Jack eloped Downtown Main Street last Friday. They met online late summer last year and instantly had a connection. Monica and Jack texted pretty regularly for about a week and finally got their schedules to coordinate a weekend date. They went to Liberty BBQ in Falls Church on a Sunday afternoon. Monica admitted she was a mixture of excitement and nerves. She loved talking with Jack about anything and everything. But was a tad nervous their “connection” wouldn’t translate into real life. But when she saw him across the restaurant in his boots and country tee, she was smitten from that moment.

After a month of dating, Monica recalls standing in her kitchen helping Jack prepare dinner. She knew that she loved him. He was exactly who she was looking for! Later that evening as Jack was leaving to head home, Monica burst into tears and mumbled, “I love you!” She immediately panicked thinking she jumped the gun, only to have the phrase returned with a kiss. From that night they knew they didn’t want a life without one another.

Monica and Jack purchased a home on the mountain that they call their mini farm, complete with chickens, ducks, dogs and more! The love Front Royal and the slower pace of mountain life. Although, they stay pretty busy taking care of their mini farm. When these two aren’t working they enjoy sitting on the back deck listening to music or cooking meals together. In their daily routine, they would often say to one another, “I’m going to marry you.”

Then one night as Monica got home from work she noticed Jack was acting weird. She could tell something was wrong because his energy felt off. While sitting on the edge of the bed in front of her he said, “Will you marry me?”  Monica thought he was just continuing their ongoing marriage commentary, laughed and said “duh.” She then hesitated and said, “Wait, seriously? For real, marry you?” which came with a “yes, for real!” In which case she said YES! They spent the evening talking about rings and picked one out the very next day!

Monica and Jack’s love story is uncommon but so them. They walk to a beat of their own drum and do their own thing. They knew they wanted it to be small and intimate. So they decided to elope. They planned a small intimate ceremony with their family on Friday night to include drinks at a brewery and car show on Main Street. On Saturday friends came to celebrate with a reception on their mini-farm. I wish these two a lifetime of happiness on their mini farm!
