In September the annual family portrait session planning was underway. I got a better understanding and sense of appreciation for what it is like for my clients. Getting a family ready for family portraits is no easy task. My family is now three different households with nine people. Granted not all of these nine people have schedules but these three families do and boy is it tough to get one date that works for everyone and the photographer in FALL, the busiest season of the year!

After going through the calendar numerous times to list available dates and attempting to match it all up we successfully had a session date. Then we just have to pray that it wasn’t inclement weather because we didn’t have a back-up. WHAT?! You’re probably asking yourself why I didn’t have a back-up plan when I tell all of my seniors to have a secondary date. Well that is because it was so tough to get the first date I just couldn’t manage to “find” a back-up date. In my thoughts, we were doing this rain or shine with umbrellas worst case scenario.

So once a date was set, the “what will we wear” question began! Since these portraits are mostly for my mom I always like to get her to select the color pallet. Because remember you want to go with a pallet, not matchy matchy! So after much searching on Pinterest we agreed on brown, tans, and blues, which I think turned out great! We all arrived on time and knew exactly what we wanted, the groupings of family, and the whole family.
