In today’s Wedding Vendor Highlight, I’m sharing an interview with Romin of Zandi Entertainment. I had the privilege of working with Romin and have never been so impressed by a DJ. As we neared the wedding day, Romin sent out an email introducing himself and provided the DJ timeline, which has NEVER happened before. He had had meetings with the couple to go over their song selections and vision. His goal was to not have to bother or ask the couple anything throughout the night, which is my same mission. He was not only an amazingly talented DJ keeping the music flowing from the start to the end of the reception. He read the group and kept them on the dance floor ALL NIGHT LONG! His communication with the other vendors was amazing. He ensured that everyone was ready for the next event before making the announcement, which is huge! He even got an umbrella to help the guests back and forth to the buffet line because it started to rain just as dinner was served. If you want a top notch DJ, than Romin of Zandi Entertainment is your guy!

Developing a connection is the most important thing you can do working with a couple or client. Our favorite part and expertise comes down our ability of developing these deep connections with our clients which helps us understand their vision and music styles much more in-depth. Most importantly it’s about tailoring your performance to the couple or clients exact vision!

When did you start? Background? Education? Experience

I started DJ’ing over a decade ago while in school! I attended a lounge where I saw a DJ performing and was in total awe of how the DJ was able to control the energy in the room through the songs he was playing.

I’m so blessed, because I truly love what I do! We are DJs because it allows us to combine our love of people with our passion for great music. The perfect event combined with the right music has the power to bring people closer. My favorite part about DJing is taking care of people with music! Being able to choose the right song that attributes to that exact energy on the dance floor is truly a skill! Memories are created, friendships are cemented, and families are tightened. We love being able to create an environment that does these things…one that allows people to express themselves with a musical backdrop. One of our favorite things about being wedding and entertainment DJs is combining various tracks of music in a way that fit or enhances the mood. Energy levels, vibes, & cultures mashed into that perfect situation… It really brings people together, and creates and an environment that makes a celebration memorable! 

 

First, they need to be a DJ who know’s music and staying up to date on music trends and the culture but also the past eras. They have to be able to blend songs smoothly and transition between genres. Second, they need to be a Polished MC and Event Host. As your MC, their energy should never be more then your’s and they need to be able to create the vibe that you envision with their announcements and stage presence. Lastly, they need to be an expert at event directing. With all of our couples we make them a timeline from an entertainment perspective that is totally unique to their vision and what they want to accomplish. As a Wedding DJ, you can’t just play the music and make announcements, you have to create a timeline with your couple that’s going to flow but also work with the other vendors on the team. Having the right knowledge and experience will give you the right peace of mind that your DJ can create basically anything you envision.

We are a DJ Company that utilizes production items like Lighting & Photobooths to enhance our DJ performance! Sound is also the most important foundation to any great DJ company. My staff and I are trained MC / Event Hosts on-top of being DJ’s. All of my couples will receive a DJ who is matched with their personality so it’s a solid connection! Our couples playlists are completely created by their own tastes and not our tastes. It’s our job to tailor our performance to the vision they have for their wedding. About two months out from the wedding, we meet with all of our couples to go over their planning app and talk about the feel and logistics for the day. When we approach the wedding day, we are ready to go and excited to set the right tone and energy for the day!

 

I always recommend to start looking for your DJ / Entertainment about 1-2 years out depending on when you get engaged and start wedding planning! Every vendor of the wedding is very important, but the biggest things you will remember from the actual day is the food, alcohol and entertainment! Entertainment can break or make your wedding! If the energy is off, the whole experience in a space will feel uncomfortable, but when the energy is right its feels like everything is natural!
