University of Virginia Arboretum Engagement

The University of Virginia Arboretum was magical for Heather & Rob’s engagement session. Unfortunately, we had to reschedule due to thunderstorm warnings on their original date. However the second date couldn’t have been better. We had a nice breeze, lower temps for late June, and a gorgeous glow from the sun! These two were as equally excited to get family photos with their pup Mia. Seven and a half years in the making these two have dated and are finally getting married this October!

Heather and Rob met on a dating app. Heather was about to delete the app. Frustrated with the guys she was meeting when, right before she hit delete, Rob messaged her. They hit it off and met for dinner at California Pizza Kitchen in Fairfax Corner. After dinner they went around the corner to Pete’s Coffee and continued getting to know one another. They actually closed the place down that night. They recall the downtown center was glowing from the lighted trees lining the streets for the holidays.

Heather knew early on that Rob was her guy. She shared that it was his love for Mia and how he treated her that she wanted to make him her person! Rob “tricked” her a few times over the years as they traveled. One time specifically in Iceland on Ring Road, a national road in Iceland that circles the entire country. In addition, they visited Diamond Beach on Ring Road and she for sure knew he was going to propose, but he didn’t.

Rob did however propose to Heather in March 2020 before the world shut down. They planned a trip to Walt Disney World and Rob surprised Heather by arranging an evening with a fireworks show and a photography session. He made a good point that they never take pictures together, but that set off alarm bells for Heather. The session was underway and Heather’s bells were getting dimmer as the session was nearing the end and still no proposal. However, the photographer had them face Cinderella’s Castle, right at sunset, and upon turning back around, Heather found Rob down on one knee asking her to marry him. She said yes and they watched the fireworks in a special area together. The package at Disney was appropriately themed, “Happily Ever After.”
