Virginia State Arboretum is where Lauren and Nick choose for their engagement session. Although it seems they have traveled/lived all over the United States, Virginia is where Nick has family. Lauren and Nick met in San Diego in 2016. Lauren and Nick matched through an online dating service. Nick had just returned from military deployment and Lauren recently moved to San Diego. Their first date was at a rock climbing gym, which Lauren recalls being both fun and embarrassing for her.

Although embarrassing for Lauren, they hit it off! It wasn’t long before they very quickly started to spend all of their free time together. They simply had fun together. They enjoy cooking together, trying breweries and restaurants. One night about 7 months into dating when they were grilling pizza at Nick’s house and he looked at Lauren and said, “You know I love you, right?” Lauren recalls it being sweet yet very funny and she laughed for a minute or two before responding.

In 2019 on a trip to Seven Sacred Pools on Maui, Nick proposed! Lauren recalls being slightly miserable because she got a cold from someone on the flight there. She did not want to hike that day because she was up all night. Nick was just being squirrelly all day (constantly checking his pockets to make sure he didn’t lose the ring but then being very defensive when asked what’s wrong etc). Nick was so nervous. He kind of just handed Lauren the ring muttering about getting married. Once Lauren accepted and put the ring on, Nick was so relieved!
